R.I.P. To A Legend
Before there was Janet, before there was Beyonce and before there was Tyra, there was Eartha. Sadly, one of the first black female icons of the 20th Century passed away on Christmas Day at the age of 81. Ironically, I wrote in an earlier post about there being a biographical movie on the legend, Eartha Kitt. Kitt was a singer, actress, activist and a world icon. In addition to numerous Emmy Awards, some of her famous accolades were her 1953 classic, “Santa Baby,” her role as Catwoman in the 1960 Batman TV series and her role as “Lady Eloise” in the 1992 film, Boomerang, starring Eddie Murphy. She exuded class, sophistication and sex appeal and she has, without a doubt, left her imprint on American pop culture and Black History. RIP Eartha Kitt.
